Become a PKD Champion

PKD Champions actively engage Congress and other elected officials to raise awareness of PKD. Champions call on their Senators and Representatives to support more PKD research funding and other policy issues beneficial to PKD patients and families.

Anyone is eligible to become a PKD Champion. Whether you participate in one step listed below or all the steps, your advocacy can help us find a treatment and cure for PKD. Here’s how you can get started:

-- Sign up for PKD Foundation Action Alerts to stay updated on all of our advocacy efforts.

-- Visit the district and state office of your Representatives and Senators at least once a year to discuss PKD policy issues.

-- Ask your local government, whether it’s your mayor or city council, to declare a PKD Awareness Week to support your community’s local Walk for PKD event in September.

-- Recruit at least five of your family members, friends and co-workers to sign up to participate in Action Alerts.

-- Attend PKD Champions Untied on the Hill in Washington, D.C., during National Kidney Month. The 2009 event is scheduled for March 2-3 (Monday-Tuesday).
